A jarring insight

For years I’ve used a phrase for referring to the long ago as “not since ought six.”  It just dawned on me this IS “ought six.”

Jenn, the "ought" is a substitute for the "zero" in '06. 1906 was sometimes referred to as "ought six" which was to a late 20th century person, a long time ago. Hope that helps.

So there's no historical incident linked to the date... "not since '76" might serve as an example.
